Former Minister of Civil Aviation of Egypt
Eng. Massoud is a leading character in the aviation industry both in Egypt and internationally. Along his extended career in Aviation he occupied several key posts within the industry where he had the opportunity to serve the stakeholders in country and abroad across multiple dimensions as a government official and as a private sector player. Eng. Massoud served as the Minister of Civil Aviation between 2011 and 2012. Before this he led Egypt Air Holding Company as the Vice Chairman for 2 years then the CEO for over 2 years. Prior Egypt Air, Eng. Massoud was the Chairman of Smart Aviation Company then the Chairman of (LSG) Sky Chefs Egypt.
On the international and regional fronts, Eng. Massoud was a member of the IATA Board of Governors, the IATA Strategies and Policies Committee (SPC), and the IATA Nomination Committee. He was also the Chairman of Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO), Chairman of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) and he served on the Board of the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the Board of the National Institute of Transport.
Eng. Massoud’s career path was shaped by the diversity and high quality education where he earned his MBA at ESC Rennes University, France, MSc at the American University in Cairo and his B.Sc. in Aircraft Mechanical Engineering at the Military Technical College.
Mr. Massoud made an outstanding experience in aviation earlier in his career. He spent over 22 years as an Air Force Engineer where he held many commanding posts, and actively participated in the 1973 war earning a Medal of Outstanding Duty Performance "First Grade" and a Medal of outstanding Service "First Grade" from the Egyptian Armed Forces. He concluded his military career as the Egyptian Air Force Procurement Officer in the Egyptian Embassy in Paris where he was honored with Medal of Merit from the French Government "Officer Degree".
